Albert Fauley

About the artist:

Born in Fultonham, Ohio, Albert Fauley (American 1859 – 1919) was a prominent Columbus, Ohio-based artist whose creative vision contributed significantly to the region’s cultural landscape. Known for his dedication to both the practice and advancement of the arts, Fauley’s career spanned several decades, during which he explored a variety of mediums and subjects including coastal scenes and landscaped.

He was particularly recognized for his evocative landscapes and architectural studies, capturing the essence of central Ohio’s scenery with remarkable sensitivity and precision. 

Fauley pursued formal art training at The Ohio State University, where his talent and perseverance earned him acclaim among peers and professors. Throughout his career, he participated in numerous exhibitions, both locally and nationally, garnering attention for his technical skill and innovative approach to composition.

His paintings were celebrated for their luminous palettes and expressive brushwork, which brought Columbus’s landmarks, neighborhoods and political figures to life. Fauley was commissioned to paint the portraits of several of Ohio’s governors whose portraits hang today in the Statehouse. Among them was future president William McKinley.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Fauley was an enthusiastic advocate for arts education and community engagement. He mentored aspiring artists and collaborated with local institutions to promote accessibility and appreciation for the visual arts.
